Resumo Este artigo compara as notas obtidas nos Enades de 2012 a 2014 por alunos que entraram no ensino superior via cotas, receberam bolsa ProUni ou empréstimo via Fies com a nota de seus colegas de classe que não receberam o benefício correspondente. A comparação é feita usando a diferença entre as médias das notas padronizadas dos exames gerais e específicos do Enade. O artigo define um limite de equivalência como sendo a diferença da média das notas dos 5% dos alunos com resultados logo acima da média e dos 5% dos alunos logo abaixo da média de todos os alunos. Diferenças abaixo desse valor foram consideradas sem importância prática. Tendo em vista essa definição, alunos cotistas tiveram desempenho equivalente ao de seus colegas de classe não cotistas, assim como os alunos que recebem empréstimo do Fies. Alunos que recebem bolsa do ProUni tiveram desempenho superior ao dos seus colegas de classe.

Abstract This paper compares the grades on the Enade exams from 2012 to 2014 of students who were accepted into higher education through affirmative action, who received the ProUni scholarship, or who received the government sponsored student loans (FIES) with the grades of students in the same class who did not receive the corresponding benefit. The mean of the standardized exam grades (both general and specific exams) are used for the comparison. The paper defines a limit of equivalence between grades as the difference of the mean grade of the 5% students with grades just above the mean and of the 5% students with grades just below the mean of all students. Differences below this limit of equivalence are considered of no practical relevance. Under this definition, the performance of students who were accepted through affirmative action is equivalent to that of their classmates who did not receive such benefit, as is the performance of students who received the FIES student loan. Students who received the ProUni scholarship performed better than their classmates.

Este trabalho estuda a correlação entre medidas bibliométricas (índice h e quantidade total de citações), obtidas através de diferentes serviços de contagem de citações (Web of Science, Scholar e Scopus). Calculamos essas medidas para diversos pesquisadores do CNPq. Então, obtivemos a correlação dos resultados obtidos para cada medida, entre cada par de serviços. As correlações foram calculadas para cada uma das subáreas divididas, nas seguintes áreas: Ciências Biológicas, Ciências Exatas, Ciências Humanas, Ciências da Saúde, Ciências Sociais Aplicadas, Engenharia e Letras, Linguística e Artes . Discutimos o significado das correlações obtidas.

This work analysis the correlation between bibliometric measures (H index and total amount of citations) obtained using different citation count services (Web of Science, Scholar, Scopus ). We computed these bibliometric measures for different researchers from CNPq. So we obtained the correlation between the results obtained metrics for each pair of services. The correlations were calculated for each subarea divided on the following areas: Agriculture Sciences, Biology Sciences, Exact Sciences, Human Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering and Arts. We discussed the meaning of the correlations that were obtained.

Este trabalho estuda as correlações entre decisões tomadas no fim de 2009, sobre renovação ou não de bolsas de produtividade em pesquisa do CNPq e medidas bibliométricas. Para cada nível da bolsa e para cada subárea, calculamos a correlação da decisão em subir o pesquisador de nível, mantê-lo no nível original ou rebaixá-lo, com várias medidas bibliométricas, como produção total (artigos, conferências, livros e capítulos de livros), produção nos últimos 5 anos, produção indexada no Web of Science, citações recebidas por artigo, citações recebidas por artigo escrito nos últimos 5 anos, índice H, etc. Os dados de citações foram extraídos tanto do Google Scholar como do Web of Science. As correlações de cada subárea são agrupadas em cada uma das 8 grandes áreas do CNPq (Ciências Agrícolas, Ciências Biológicas, Ciências Exatas, Ciências Humanas, Ciências da Saúde, Ciências Sociais, Engenharia e Artes). Indicamos quais são as métricas bibliométricas com maior correlação, com as decisões do CNPq para cada nível e para cada uma das grandes áreas. Discutimos algumas grandes áreas nas quais parece haver uma maior coerência, através dos vários níveis da bolsa entre as métricas mais correlacionadas com as decisões.

This work analyses the correlation between decisions regarding the CNPq research scholarships (taken at the end of 2009) and some bibliometric measures. For all levels, and for all scientific subareas we calculated the correlation of the decision to raise, keep or lower the researcher's evaluation level and many bibliometric measures such as: total production (journal and conference papers, book an book chapters), production in the last 5 years, total production and last 5 years production that is indexed in the Web of Science, citations per article received, citations per article published in the last 5 years, H index and so on. We used both Google Scholar and Web of Science to obtain the citation data. The correlations are aggregated for all subareas of each of the CNPq large subject areas (Agriculture Sciences, Biology Sciences, Exact Sciences, Human Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering and Arts). We show which bibliometric measure has the higher correlation to the scholarship decisions, for each level and for each large area. We discuss some of the cases where there seems to be a coherent theme regarding the most highly correlated measure across all levels of the scholarship.

As políticas públicas de educação têm dado bastante ênfase, ao longo dos últimos anos, à necessidade de informatizar as escolas e modificar práticas de ensino devido ao advento da sociedade de informação. Este artigo usa as pesquisas do saeb para verificar o desempenho de alunos de 4ª e 8ª série do ensino fundamental e da 3ª série do ensino médio e a relação deste desempenho com o uso de computador. Os resultados demonstram que para os alunos de todas as séries e para todas as classes sociais o uso intenso do computador diminui o desempenho escolar. Para alunos da 4ª série, das classes sociais mais pobres, mesmo o uso moderado do computador piora o desempenho nos exames de português e matemática. Esses resultados indicam claramente que é preciso repensar o papel do computador no ensino, sobretudo para os alunos mais pobres, para quem o uso do computador está surpreendentemente associado a uma piora nas suas notas.

Over the last few years, public educational policies have had an emphasis on the need to equip schools with computers and change teaching practices, to match the needs of information society. This paper analyzes the SAEB research data to check basic school students from the 4th to the 8th grades and 3rd year high school students' performance, as well as to study the relation between their performance and the use of computers. The results show us that, for all grades and for all social-economic classes, heavy use of computers is related to lower school performance. For 4th grade students from poor social backgrounds, even the moderate use of computers is associated to worse performance in Portuguese and mathematics. These results point out to the need to reflect on the role of computers in teaching, especially when it comes to poor students, for whom the use of computers is associated to a worse school performance.

OBJETIVO: As pesquisas sobre o raciocínio clínico foram importantes para o surgimento de sistemas de apoio à decisão diagnóstica. Essas ferramentas são desenvolvidas por meio de técnicas de inteligência artificial e têm com objetivo principal auxiliar o médico no diagnóstico de doenças complexas. A abordagem utilizada para a construção desses sistemas constitui na formulação de um modelo baseado na identificação de padrões no raciocínio dos expertos quando de uma tomada de decisão diagnóstica. Este estudo descreve a metodologia empregada para identificar os elementos-chave utilizados no raciocínio de três expertos no processo de diagnóstico do transtorno da esquizofrenia. MÉTODO: Para explorar o raciocínio clínico foram selecionados três expertos em esquizofrenia de dois centros universitários de São Paulo. Foi utilizado o método dos grafos, por meio do qual o experto podia esquematizar a combinação de sintomas-chave que ele utilizava para identificar um diagnóstico de esquizofrenia. RESULTADOS: A partir da análise qualitativa dos grafos foi possível notar uma diferença marcante nos padrões de raciocínio diagnóstico. Essa diferença ocorreu, sobretudo, nos sintomas-chave do processo de decisão diagnóstica: desorganização, afeto embotado e distúrbio do pensamento. CONCLUSÕES: Os resultados apontam para uma diferença substancial entre os expertos quanto a um padrão de raciocínio diagnóstico provavelmente influenciado por diferentes correntes teóricas. Essas diferenças constituem um impedimento para a construção de um modelo único. O sintoma desorganização foi considerado o elemento-chave mais apropriado para representar a heterogeneidade da esquizofrenia e ser modelado para a construção de sistema de apoio à decisão diagnóstica.

OBJETIVE: Research on clinical reasoning has been useful in developing expert systems. These tools are based on Artificial Intelligence techniques which assist the physician in the diagnosis of complex diseases. The development of these systems is based on a cognitive model extracted through the identification of the clinical reasoning patterns applied by experts within the clinical decision-making context. This study describes the method of knowledge acquisition for the identification of the triggering symptoms used in the reasoning of three experts for the diagnosis of schizophrenia. METHOD: Three experts on schizophrenia, from two University centers in Sao Paulo, were interviewed and asked to identify and to represent the triggering symptoms for the diagnosis of schizophrenia according to the graph methodology. RESULTS: Graph methodology showed a remarkable disagreement on how the three experts established their diagnosis of schizophrenia. They differed in their choice of triggering-symptoms for the diagnosis of schizophrenia: disorganization, blunted affect and thought disturbances. CONCLUSIONS: The results indicate substantial differences between the experts as to their diagnostic reasoning patterns, probably under the influence of different theoretical tendencies. The disorganization symptom was considered to be the more appropriate to represent the heterogeneity of schizophrenia and also, to further develop an expert system for the diagnosis of schizophrenia.

This paper presents SCOT, a system for automatic theory construction in the domain of Graph Theory. Following on the footsteps of the programs ARE [9], HR [1] and Cyrano [6], concept discovery is modeled as search in a concept space. We propose a classification for discovery heuristics, which takes into account the main processes related to theory construction: concept construction, example production, example analysis, conjecture construction, and conjecture analysis.
